About Mr. Moore

Joseph R. Moore graduated Cum Laude from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in General Business and an Associate of Science in Occupational Safety and Health.

In 2011, Mr. Moore received his Juris Doctorate with Cum Laude honors distinction from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.  While attending Loyola, Mr. Moore was the Editor-in-Chief of the Loyola Maritime Law Journal and a student practitioner with the Employment Law Clinic.

Mr. Moore had the following achievements at Loyola University New Orleans:

  • Law Excellence Award – Highest Grade in Class in Successions
  • As a student practitioner, Mr. Moore acted as lead student practitioner representing low-income workers for breach of construction contract, ADEA and workers’ compensation cases.

Mr. Moore has been recognized as a legal scholar with published law review articles. His publications have resulted in legislative changes and enact of laws. The following are a list of those published articles:

  • “Punitive Damages for Maritime Work-Related Injuries” – 8 Loy. Mar. L.J. 197 (2010)
  • “Prematurity: A Roadblock to Fair and Equal Access to the Workers’ Compensation Court” – 56 Loy. L. Rev. 757 (2010)

After being admitted to the Louisiana Bar, Mr. Moore began working for the commercial litigation firm, Salley, Hite, Mercer & Resor in New Orleans, Louisiana, concentrating in the areas of workers’ compensation defense, insurance defense, and general civil litigation.

Mr. Moore is admitted to practice in Louisiana, as well as the federal courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In August of 2012, Mr. Moore joined the E. Orum Young Law Firm.  Mr. Moore is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.  Mr. Moore’s primary practice area is consumer bankruptcy and consumer credit litigation.  His practice includes the preparation and filing of consumer bankruptcy cases and litigating violations of the bankruptcy code by creditors as well as the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and the Truth in Lending Act (TILA).
